First playthrough review time. Mafia II: Definitive Edition is a remastered version of the original game with improved graphics and all of the previously released DLC included. The visual upgrade is noticeable and gives the game a cleaner look. Apart from that, the main experience remains mostly the same, so this is more of a simple remaster than a major rework. Don't play this after Mafia 1; it gets boring within five minutes. I never thought I'd get so tired of a game I finished twice using a pirated copy of the classic version. The game is good, but whatever you do, don't play it after the first one; it's terrible.

As of 2026, the port is still bad. The good features from Mafia: Definitive Edition (i.e. driving while shooting) were stripped from Mafia II's Definitive Edition. Game has bugs and broken NPCs throughout it's main campaign and the DLCs. I'm dumbfounded by how poor and muddy this game looks for a remaster (yes, even after tweaking visual settings). There was also an audio bug where voicelines will overlap and repeat...

For me, this remaster had more engaging gameplay than the remake of the first game. The story went far beyond a typical mafia story and had better character development. This game has some of the best references to other entries in the series, and strangely enough, it reimagines the ending of the first game. On top of all that, the ending of this game is something that stays with you. 8.5/10

After Mafia 1 DE, this just ended up being a big disappointment. The gun play is bad and the game was really buggy throughout. The story didn't really grip me unlike in Mafia 1, many of the characters were just annoying. When you die you can get set back tens of minutes depending on the situation.

Criminal drama as it's supposed to be: realistic, bold, dark, humorous at times, but ruthless in its nature. About 50% of the game is driving between mission objectives through the city. Luckily, driving has actual weight and inertia, and different cars genuinely behave differently. The music is on point. Mission tracks are precisely picked to match the current mood, and you also have 3 stations packed with awesome...

Quite poor remaster. Visual improvements are minimal, there are a few new bugs that weren't present in the original and never got fixed. Stick with "Classic" version that comes bundled with "Definitive Edition".

mafia two just the base game if is amazingly good. bit sad its not really open world tho. the dlcs on the other hand are a different story. i really enjoyed jimmys dlcs no matter what other people say. its has a okay written protagonist. if you really listen, he has a genuine passion for fast and cool cars. he is genuinly hurt bt being betrayed. my theory about jimmy, is that is that vitos dad isnt dead and that...
