this game's actually good. some missions are a bit repetitive and certain cutscenes are longer than usual, but other than that it's hated for no reason. a true classic

Nothing Felt Like This Back Then I first heard about Assassin's Creed through someone I knew who was really into parkour. I always thought parkour was incredibly cool and even tried it myself for a while. Crashes when I launch the game. The game used to work fine but after an update it does not even want to launch anymore. With mods it does launch but then it keeps loading in the white animus screen.

Learning Pains This was one of the first new type of Ubisoft games. In an era where open world sandboxes become extremely popular, thanks to GTA 3 and later games. This is probably the AC with the best story/dialogue/characters for me. I played this first in around 2015. (Had to install some mod for controller support. Ubisoft really did not care when porting this game. Same with AC Brotherhood where I had a gamebreaking bug. I couldn't progress any further. F*** you Ubisoft.) Altairs character growth is very nice. Dated but fascinating. Got me hooked. Enemy AI can be frustrating, yes, and the missions are repetitive, yes, but a little patience went a long way, and I feel like this was 30 hours well spent. I ran it on Linux and, surprisingly, it only crashed twice, and hasn't given me any trouble otherwise.

The game that started it all. Without Altair we wouldn’t have Ezio or Connor or Edward. Controls are easy to fix, if you like AC and haven’t played the OG definitely give it a go. It’s worth it.

Played this in 2025, and honestly, it still holds up. It doesn't look great anymore, and getting my controller to work on PC version was a bit of a struggle, but I still had a lot of fun with the gameplay.
