Fun game, slightly janky controls but to be fair, better than most old games. I would've loved to have known this existed back in the day. Hopefully they add it back to the steam store so it can be purchased again. Would love a reboot/remake!

This review is solely written for the port of this game, not the actual quality of it. This port suffers badly from no controller support, resolution problems and etc. I had to play PS2 version instead of this one, so yeah if you really want to try this game PS2 version might be your best bet.

Cold Fear is Ubisoft’s response to Resident Evil. It’s an excellent survival horror game set on a rickety, rusty, and terrifying ship. The protagonist must figure out what’s going on and save his own skin from strange creatures. In terms of gameplay, it’s a fixed-camera title, very similar to the early Resident Evil games. An pleasant surprise, I was lucky to buy this hidden PS2 gem before it was as delisted. At first it reminded me of Resident Evil Revelations 1 which also takes place on a ship too, but this game is waaaay better. The bad things are that u can't change the resolution or the game simply wont open anymore, cant minimize the game without breaking the engine, level design is a bit confusing and the final boss is...

I'm fully aware this game has been delisted from Steam, but anyone interested in playing it can still pick it up on GOG. Many people compare Cold Fear to Resident Evil 4 and while the similarities are certainly there, Cold Fear has plenty of ideas that make it stand on its own. Used to watch my dad play it years back, now i got myself to play it, its amazing game with fantastic atmosphere, just u on abandoned ship in the eye of the storm and a ton of unfriendly monsters. The weather effects and the movements of the whole ship are just astonishing for its time. Such a gem from the peak gaming era where games use to be creative and have a soul. <3

This game was a solid B, and it would have sold much better...if it wasn't released two months after the original Resident Evil 4. It does have it's moments, and it's share of references to other media...overall it was enjoyable. It was basically The Thing, on a boat/tanker. A remake would be welcomed.

Please bring this back to Steam or remake/remaster it or something! This game needs to be fixed on PC and it would be nice to have achievements too. Maybe one day it will be playable on modern systems. Negative review until they fix it.

Works suspiciously well on modern hardware/Windows 11 but doesn't support resolutions higher than 1600x1200 without some slight tweaks
