I liked the story line of him changing and not letting rage consume him. Teaching his son to not end up like him and survive this harsh, unforgiving world where the gods do almost anything they want with no consequences for their actions. I really enjoyed this game from beginning to end. I'm not usually super fond of side quests or anything related to looting, but with this game, I personally found them rewarding to do. Great story about the father-son relationship, awesome music, and impeccable sound design that makes you feel the presence of Jörmungandr when he speaks. Played it in 2018 on console, a 10/10 experience. Played it again on ultrawide with max settings in 2026, 11/10 experience. If you are looking for a epic adventure game without wanting boot up a 300/h long RPG (looking at you Witcher 3) this is one of the best games in its genre. Although i played the original GoW games back in the 00s, its not needed to grip the story of this game.

Read this, boy: I don't know exactly why I wasn't able to finish this in 2022. About 15 of my hours are from an initial unfinished playthrough. I managed to 100% the game in roughly 43 hours of almost daily play in 2 weeks. I did mess around with the difficulty for the trials in Muspelheim and Niflheim because they got a bit tedious.
