Great game! Played it way back when, and Nightdive has done the game justice. A classic Boomer Shooter every fan of the genre must play.

This is an under-the-radar 2.5D shooter that plays kinda like a Metroidvania. You unlock different abilities that allow you to access areas in previous levels you couldn't get to before, so there's a lot of exploration and backtracking. The combat is quite unique compared to other boomer shooters. All the weapons use the same ammo pickups, kinda like mana, and depending on which weapon you have equipped the pickup...

Recommended but it's a so-so. It's an adequate Steam Deck experience if you can overlook dated level design which seems to be centered around instadeaths and replaying parts of the levels with additional gear. I generaly love FPS' from that era but this one is not that great, just ok.

Pretty fun game that can be a little confusing at times. Also, I have no idea what the Olmec-ass looking dude is even saying most of the time.

I've heard this described as "Metroid Prime before Metroid Prime" several times which had me interested. I think that's overselling it quite a bit, but you can definitely see the Metroid influences. Lots of "get an upgrade, go to the place where it would be useful" going on here. Not so much "super strong atmosphere and impressive storytelling," but it doesn't really need that. I like the idea of a retro shooter having a Metroidvania-style progression to it, that made the game more interesting. Having to backtrack to access new places after unlocking a new ability. It also had couple of platforming sections which were fun. Overall a good game

It's something you have to play if you like retro fps and boomer shooters. But there is too much backtracking since they made it like a metroidvania

Super fun old-style shooter, with good nice puzzle elements. Beware that ols style means dat death can happen in an instance. And the powers you collect require you to go back to previous levels to do things you cloud not do before. If you dont want to search for a really long time, I recommend finding the required (back) level order online before starting to play. But lots of fun in this originally very modest game!
