I've been going through a weird phase since Where Winds Meet came out I've been looking for anything Romance era related and I came across Whisper brooks, it's a competent visual novel for sure. The story is simple but effective investigation, mystery, unsettling little discoveries that slowly add up. It's the kind of narrative where you always feel like you're one step behind something you don’t fully understand....

A visual novel game that has two different stories currently and at least one on the way to be released. Whisper Books has an interesting way of combining different cultures, like Aztecs, ancient Chinese and Vikings. The stories were actually pretty interesting, but the way choosing the different routes and doing choices was very weird and kinda made the choice unnecessary to even be there. It is a Chinese audio book with choices. Pretty much a choose your own adventure in game format. Very excellent choices of story and art!

Whisper Books is not a game, it's an e-book that's been dumped on Steam masquerading as a game. As a visual/interactive novel, this doesn't feature any notable gameplay, it's just a lot of clicking through badly written dialogue that would never have been accepted or published in print, which poses the question, "How did something this badly written end up on Steam?".
