It took 2,000 years for someone to make chess better! The most challenging game on earth comes to life in Battle Chess. An entire medieval world at war is reflected on the checkered field. Everyone who's ever had a knight take a pawn has seen that capture as more than one piece replacing another on the board.

The code in the game was optimized for Windows XP, it's been updated to check for Windows 10 or higher and uses the new threads/semaphores, etc. Will make the game run a tad bit faster.

The animations are very entertaining and the characters represented in each chess piece look very good. Unfortunaly the Game crashes round about during half or almost at the end of the match. There are no real solutions for the problem except disableing the animations and 3d Models. I am going to be honest I dont want to disable any of that since these things were the only reason to get the game in the first place...

ONLINE MULTIPLAYER DOES NOT WORK IN 2026!!! Players show up but you can't get into matches. Still playable in singleplayer/local if that's more your thing, crashes a lot. Was really looking forward to this one. It's a shame.

I have had it with this game. I bought the game in July of 2014 without reading any reviews. Boy that was stupid! DO NOT BUY THIS ABANDONED GAME, IT IS BROKEN AND WILL NEVER BE FIXED. The game crashes constantly, I have not finished a match even once without a crash, that is if you can get into the match to start with without the game freezing or hard locking your pc. The games creator has not attempted to patch or repair the game.

When I noticed that Battle Chess was re-released (this time for PC), I was pleasantly suprised and immediately purchased the game. I've been a fan of chess for thirty years and enjoy the usually quiet, but "personal" interaction with other players. Unfortuantely, if you're looking for online multiplayer action, you won't find it here because there's never anybody in the online multiplayer server.
