Magrunner: Dark Pulse

At first glance, the game appears to be a Ukrainian Portal, but that's not entirely true. The plot is quite good and interesting in places, and the locations are also well-designed. Instead of portals, we control magnetic gravity, which is also cool. One downside is the puzzles themselves: in the first chapter, they're very easy, but in the second, even guides sometimes don't help. My rating: ✭✭✭✰✰

Great hidden gem along the lines of Portal and Talos Principle. The puzzles are all based on magnetism so they feel very dynamic and it's fun to find both the intended solutions and physics-platforming based shortcuts. The story is pretty cool as well, taking a decent shot at a Lovecraftian story. You can definately tell the devs/writers had bigger ambitions than they could fully realize, but it's fun and mixes in...

Magrunner is too long for its own good. But it's a good game that deserved more recognition because it's in many ways similar to Portal and Q.U.B.E. But instead of using portals or cubes you'll be solving puzzles using your Magtech glove, a glove that allows you to magnetize stuff. I honestly enjoyed most of this game, which is why giving it a negative review bites. The problem is, the back chunk of the game is atrocious. You're suddenly going from what I referred to a couple of friends as "Hard-Mode Portal" (same 'solve the puzzle room' gameplay, with two-button controls, even if it's opposing magnetic polarities rather than holes in time/space) into a terrible action title. Hidden gem in a Portal, Q.U.B.E or AntiChamber style with almost unseen concept integrating magnetism logics in a Lovecraft realm!
