I was not really overly impressed with Penumbra: Overture, but I told myself it'll be worth it as a set up for Black Plague. After all, Black Plague has more stuff I like about Frictional's games from 2010 to the 2023 design shift with (very good) Amnesia: The Bunker - no combat and humanoid enemies rather than rabid dogs and spiders. But the longer I played the more my opinion dropped, beginning from the dream...

Started of strong, an overall improvement to Overture. No weapons, scarier enemy and more interesting environments. But as it the game progressed there were two things that annoyed me: the voice talking to you and the "dream" puzzle sequences. Still, if you're an Amnesia fan and want more, Penumbra is worth trying out on a sale.

Small but meaningful improvements over the original game. Worth any horror fans time unless you need blood-chilling horrific moments every five minutes.
