Weird Worlds has a special place in my heart. I've been playing this game off and on since 2007 and it always makes me smile. I mean, sure - the play sessions are short, there's not any sort of deep narrative, and I learned all its secrets ages ago. The variety and distribution of what you'll find is interesting. There is a certain level of humor, if you get it, that is entertaining. Each session doesn't take long, maybe 10-20 minutes. There is combat but there are creative ways to avoid it if you're smart! Then, there are random events, some timed, where you have to defeat an enemy that appears in order to win. I think it's fun to play.

runs pretty well on low end pc's, it's a "dumb little game" which also happens to be fun, i've got mine for free but for a dollar it's worth the 5 - 6 hours of fun you'll have outta this.

This game's demo was a nostalgic staple for me, back when I had very few games to play on my family's Mac :D It remains pretty great and enjoyable, though without a ton of depths. Pretty sure there are mods though!

I have heard this game (favouribly) being compared broadly as a kind of 'space solitaire' game. But it doesn't look or even at first blush play like solitaire, so I want to explain why the analogy works for me: In solitaire, you have the same 52 cards, arranged in such a way that their order is different, so sometimes you might get snuffed out early by an unlucky deal, and sometimes you might fly through for victory...

Of all the rogue games i have played lately this one is my favorite for quick gaming sessions. Games literaly last from a few minutes to 30min tops. It has a hideous learning curve in the beginning which pretty much ensures this game will never be a big hit. Weird Worlds is a remake of an older 2002 indie game called Strange Adventures in Infinite Space. SAIS was fairly popular back in the day of Palms, Pocket PCs, and PDAs. It's meant to be a fun little distraction in sizable chucks perfect for a lunch break. To give you an idea, SAIS's tagline literally was "Explore the galaxy in 20 minutes or less!"
