Anachronox

I am not a JRPG fan. The only similar game I had played before this was the old "Septerra Core", so I may be wrong and unfairly lumping the whole genre together. In my limited view, these are party RPGs with linear stories and questionable combat systems that look turn-based without actually being turn-based. "Anachronox" turned out to be roughly that. The protagonist gathers a fixed party as the story progresses....

This game is extremely hard to describe, the most charitable way to describe Anachronox would be you going on a vacation in some foreign country, WITHOUT a tour guide. Play it. I went in knowing nothing about this game. It's really unlike anything I have played before. A western JRPG, set in a sci-fi world full of oddness that feels new despite this game's age. Anachronox is a title that you probably already have in your library because of how often it goes on sale for dirt cheap. You've probably never played it and have no intention of playing it and you're honestly not missing out on anything if you never do. But if you're a fan of RPG's, more specifically JRPG's, you might wanna give this one a go if it looks like your jam. For everyone else though, I'd be hard pressed...

Probably a good game, or was. Completely unplayable now. Be warned if you stream too, it will just show your full name on launch. I hope they fix the issues one day, because it looks like an absolute gem of a game.
