Lovely game - but I feel a bit sad that Ubisoft releases the original version on Steam 10 years after putting this version out. I bought this game and two copies as gifts, but now I would have to buy the 1999 version that came out last week to be able to play the expansions. Even the free expansion Horns of the Abyss only came out on the 1999 version, leaving us HD edition players stranded. Should I now pay 10...

There never was a reason to buy this. But as of now there is NO reason to buy this. The original game is up for grabs on Steam for only £9, and it ACTUALLY has the other expansions. Just get that, the HD mod, and HoTA if you want more content. Then you have the best way to experience HoMM3. The Remake's art style loses all the soul and magic this game has.

Heroes of Might and Magic III is one of the greatest games of all time. One that deffinitely should be played. Just not this version of it, because it's a scam. This version of Heroes of Might and Magic III is just the base game with added HD. Not the complete game, and no map generator. I would recomend getting the game from Good old games (GOG for short). This is only a third of the game, get "HOMMIII Complete" which consists of Restoration of Erathia, Armageddon's Blade and Shadow of death. It's only £3.95 at GoG. This complete version has lots of extras , for example the combination artifacts feature! Comments enabled -

The best game from my childhood. Will be playing it until my death :). I'd love to see updates to the very current release - HD. Maybe adding new castles, heroes and artifacts.

You have to admit HD Edition looks way better than a Remake. Even without expansions this edition serves as an interesting fun fact. I recommend to buy Heroes VII Complete so you can get this for free.
