I've played the hell out of this game, (especially on mobile but that's technically a completely different game) but its so frustrating how many bugs are in the game that I'd imagine are easy fixes. Charging doesn't work, when the two units collide condition drops as its supposed to and maybe 1 guy per second dies but that's it. Completely useless and an especially big problem for the Confederacy that relies on it....

Visually (outside of UI) the game looks great, and I appreciated the dynamic mission structure, but the experience is not good outside of that. RTS fundamentals around movement, unit selection, and execution of actions is extraordinarily poor, making this hard to recommend. I was going through my library of games, and looked this up again. I played it once years ago. Visually beautiful but as others have stated, the AI was ridiculous. I remember a brilliant flanking maneuver outdone by the appearance of thousands of reinforcements out of nowhere. I am a casual gamer. As a result, as much as I love the theme of the Civil War, I have not touched any of the other games from this...

This is a terrible civil war game, made by a company that has made one of the all time best civil war games. Skip this for Ultimate General: Civil War. I thought i'd try this after beating Civil war, but this game has none of the content or options... an extremely bland game. UG Civil war allows you to buy and outfit your soldiers weapons, cannons, and supplies... also allows detailed troop commands and garrisoning...

The UI is better in Civiel War, but this is the ground work for that game.
