On its surface, Hatoful Boyfriend looks like "the silly bird dating sim". However, as I played through the game and its routes, it became apparent to me that Hatoful Boyfriend is more than than its silly premise. Don't be fooled, this is a genuine Otome game that just happens to have datable birds. As you play through each route, you grow to care about these birds and their world. Short, sweet, simple. It's not particularly groundbreaking in any way - there's like, no twists at all - but it's a fun little dating sim for bird-lovers to enjoy
