Having to mod just so the games combat can run higher than 15fps is just unacceptable. Theres no reason this could not have been done when porting.

Not done yet, but the game is great! Coming straight from having played ff3 3D remake, this game introduced so many QoL changes that make the experience so much more enjoyable. I've had mild issues with lag/frame drops, not entirely sure why.

It's just a very solid entry. Exactly what you expect. The graphics have a nice charm to them, and the 3D models can be very expressive during the voiced cutscenes. Combat still has that sense of teamwork and strategy that every RPG needs to keep from getting repetitive. The story is solid even if it's not the strongest in the series. But it's probably a good entry point since every game after this gets a bit more...

Needs the Battle FPS fix by Greger in the Steam Guides to make the combat bearable, otherwise it looks jittery and too slow. The initial premise and roughly the first 3rd of the story was very intriguing since classes were now tied to actual characters but I strongly disliked the latter half about Cecil's backstory. At first I was apprehensive as I usually like going for the experience closest to the original- however the cutscenes and voice acting really do add a lot and make the 3D version superior in my opinion.

A story about a man who mucks his life up after blowing up a little girls village, With Character arcs and retribution through life lessons it's a fascinating tale of light and dark staring Patric Donahue and Stanley Heubric, It's no Brazilian drug Lord 3 but it's still a fine game, three and a half stars.

My favorite version of FF4 I've played 4 versions of this game (PS1 / DS / GBA / PR) and I like this one best with the GBA a close second. Normally I prefer the pixel remaster versions but the PR version of this game is faceroll easy. An interesting version of FF4 with ds graphics which don't look bad. Nicely done voice acting and some interesting extra stuff. But the weird difficulty spike that comes from this version can be annoying at the worst of times. But it isn't too bad. I could recommend this definitely, still a fun time.
