This isn't a Batman game. It's a Batman simulator. The combat makes you feel like a genius, the stealth makes you feel like a predator, and the atmosphere makes you feel like you haven't slept in 3 days. The Joker is perfect, Arkham is creepy as hell, and somehow a game from 2009 still feels better than most superhero games today. I came for Batman. I stayed because I am Batman. 10/10. Story is alright. It requires prior knowledge of batman to be enjoyed. Combat is very satisfying and probably the best part of the game. Stealth is alright too. Character designs are great. Map is okay. Overall, it's fun.

I played this as a kid back when windows live was a thing, certainly brings back memories and is the peak batman experience, aside from the scarecrow encounters which I just find plain annoying, boss fights in this aren't necessarily bad but later Arkham entries are better boss wise. Batman Arkham Asylum is a great game by all accounts, but it's just not for me. I don't really like the whole stealth structure of it, I'm not particularly fond of the combat, and I just don't really feel any drive to keep playing this.
