My nostalgia goggles are very thick with this one, but it's one of the best Civil War wargames of all time. I think surpassed only by Sid Meier's games.

This is an excellent (slow pace) historical strategy game, with great AI. I love the old school charm of the graphic sprites for the soldiers. They are all hand drawn from what I understand, you got to admire the work that went in to them, I think it looks great. A game that can manage to be brilliant one moment and then borderline moronic in the next. It can make you go from happy to angry in .5 seconds. In other, and more charitable, words it's a mixed bag. excellent game. i have scourge of war gettysburg and waterloo but i actually prefer this! if you like historical rts you really couldn t do much better. runs well on win7 64 bit. highly recommended.

Very good game if your into Civil War battles. You're not going to be overly impressed by the graphics. The settings are limited. No way to adjust resolution or change controls. The game always starts out running fine but after a period as short as 5 minutes and as long as 30 it always starts to freeze up and only run at 1 frame every 5-6 seconds. I've also experienced multiple crashes. I can't seem to find any solutions for this problem but it's mostly unplayable. This game seems really cool, and I really wanted to like it, but I can't recommend it at all with how poorly it runs.

One of the finest games I have ever played. Had many hours of exhilarating combat with this game. Unfortunately, it doesn't work - or at least I couldn't make it work - on Windows 11. Cursor is invisible for one thing. I got that fixed a few years back, but don't recall how the heck I did it. Then, there's the high resolution thing. My monitor, by default, is 3840 by 2160. It's a good game that I wish would get the attention of modders. Since the graphics are simple in nature, you can play around as much as you want with new units or terrain, and you can also possibly add in other armies other than the confederates and the federals.
