Age of Steel is a nice, litte strategy game. It`s less a classic tower defense game. It`s more a mix of tower defense, base upgrading and nexus war game. The graphics are nice, sound is okay, the music is mostly ambient. You could see this game as a lane based tower defense game, but with each lane having it's own distinct unit types, or as a rock-paper-scissors tug of war game, where each time you see the enemy sending more units at you, you have to see if your current forces will handily beat it, or if not start building a counter to the enemy unit(s) now coming at you. This game is similar to tower defence games. The resource mining is automatic and you can use resources to buy defence units (turrets, tanks, planes) or to upgrade the units. The game is very simple, the campaign is passed in 1 hour, 100% of achievements can be obtained in another 3 hours, the last hour you just look at the screen, making a couple of clicks every 5 minutes. In essence, it's an autobattler with upgrades. It's probably more interesting on higher difficulty, but on the easiest difficulty in survival mode it just seems endless. finished all of the missions as well as all of the achievements the game it self is not to bad as a time killer other than that it is not the greatest of games to play for the actual enjoyment side of things very simple design but overall a decent indie game took just under 4 hours to compete everything.

Instead of that satisfying caveman to future march, you just get flat gameplay, repetitive units, and the creeping realization that you’d rather replay Flash games from 2006 than push through another wave here. Just a lackluster, cheap replica of Age of War.
