This entire game honestly feels like a huge ragebait but in an extremely unoffensive way, as if the writer just kept sneaking in nonsensical twists with zero relation to what'd happened prior purely for the sake of trolling. Everything about this game is abrupt, bizarre and makes the reader question whether their confusion stems from lack of understanding or if the writing is indeed mere (mostly) grammatically...

Cyber City is an experimental low-budget scifi horror retro visual novel. The most striking aspect is its low-budget production: pixelated stock photos (perhaps so they can't be traced to the copyright holders?), sound effects reminiscent of the 8-bit era, soundtrack almost entirely from the free music site audionautix.com, and the text is a very rough translation from the Russian original. All of this fails to...

This visual novel has a ton of plot threads across multiple branches, and none of them, including the hook that begins the game, get resolved. It includes themes such as the creation of holographic AI copies of humans called "Molds", endless urbanization to the point where new locations appear without anyone noticing or caring, apathy to the point of confusing strangers for acquaintances, and a sun that, after an...

Broken english simulator 2016. This is an eclectic, off the beaten path kind of game - if you dont mind reading A LOT, and have the patience, this is pretty interesting; if only for its efforts to be something new. Think - goosebumps choose your own adventure with late 80's PC graphics and broken english.

Cyber City 2157 is a rather unique Visual Novel and for this VN, it wasn't necessarily a bad thing. With all the VNs in the market these days, its very common to find them with nice pristine and crisp art with the characters that they do have, but Cyber City 2157 takes it retro style. Everything feels like it did when I was a kid and because of that, it wasn't necessarily a bad thing. In fact, I actually found it...

Out of a desire to clear my backlog I gave it the good ol' college try. Cyber City 2157 is a supposed cyberpunk visual novel. If you're going to make a visual novel, you should at least do some basic spellchecking of the text contained inside it, not to mention the atrocious grammar.

Boring story and uninteresting walls of texts. Gameplay is meh, but can't expect much from a visual novel, I guess. Music is good, but audio effects bleed ears with high pitched tunes. Overall poor novel that is not worth the time.

Maybe it's just the English translation of this visual novel, but the writing could use an editor. That's a killer for my enjoyment of VNs, which isn't helped by the lackluster visuals. I played through it multiple times to give it more of a chance and see the other endings; thankfully it's short enough that I didn't waste too much time on it. It seems like the developer and publisher have both abandoned the game,...

My full review can be found on The Backlog. Cyber City 2157 follows a crazy day in the life of someone living in a city that is constantly growing. You'll follow him from his dream before he wakes up all the way until something happens to him based on the choices you make. I found the story somewhat hard to understand, partially due to the build I played having some absolutely horrendous English. Some fixes have...

Played this a while ago and loved it. I don't remember many specifics of the story but the mood it put me in is still very vivid. Amazing where a lo-fi collage of stock material can take you, it really put strong images of places in my head with just super pixelated material. The broken english just added one more layer of strangeness that personally I found added to the experience. A lot of people may be turned off...
