A pretty good sequel to the original trilogy, and honestly, much better than the crapfest that was DD3. Although, I don't know why they went with the classic NES aesthetics over the classic arcade aesthetics.

This is really hard to recommend. It comes down to this: You should absolutely buy this game if you enjoyed Double Dragon II: The Revenge, which this is a spiritual successor to. If you don't want to play a NES game in 2017, dont buy it. Double Dragon II: The Revenge is easily in my top 10 NES games of all time. It was perfection and is still fun to play. It's not all bad, but it plays more like a halfway decent fan game some guy made with Game Maker in his spare time than a product made by professionals and being sold for money. If you liked the old NES Double Dragon games there is stuff here you'll like, but it's pretty bare bones with bugs that haven't and will never be fixed. Essentially a slapdash clone of NES Double Dragon 2. It's not very good. As of May 2023, the issue with the game's save data sporadically erases itself has never been patched. The save files were reset twice in one day after I unlocked all the characters both times!! After the first reset, I backed up the entire "AppData\LocalLow\Arc System Works\Double Dragon IV" folder including the 6 save files and the "Unity" sub-folder hoping this would keep my progress safe.
