The servers for this version of Dark Eden are closed, but for some reason the store page on Steam remains. Don't waste your time downloading a shut down game.

Despite this game being older than the majority of Steam users, this game is and will remain a gem. Once you start off you'll notice all the small things like weird pathing, choppy animations, lag and such, you'll want to unistall and never touch this beauty again. But after playing abit and realising the depth this one has to offer plus all the fun that comes along with it, you'll be hooked. I used to play this...

For thouse who have problems with the resolution, goto "steamapps\common\Dark Eden\data\info", open "resolution.inf", set up your resolution, save. Right click in the file, select "Properties", mark the "Read Only" box, click OK and open the game in desire resolution.

The servers are shut down now. Don't waste your time installing this game. This needs to be removed from the store along with Dark Eden Origins.

PLEASE, DON'T MIND ALL THE KIDS DOING BAD REVIEWS ON THIS GAME. Dark Eden is and has always been a free to play MMORPG, released in 1997. The game may have not aged that well, but please, it's a classic and should be treated as such. It doesn't deserve all the bad ratings it has here on Steam. You may have to Run the game as Admin or Compatibility Mode. Once you open the game, adjust your video and game options...

This Version might not work for you, however if you are interested in playing this game. Download the latest version from the website. https://www.dkgenesis.com/downloads after downloading, you will have to extract the game. i recommend 7Zip its free and efficient. you will have to make an account, its fairly easy. after making your account, you will be able to log in with it, and create a new character. hope this...

Before I start the review, I just want to address the issues other reviewers were having with graphics- I had the same problems. Not sure why, but I had to wait to be in game to change the aspect ratio, exit, and return. Dont mash buttons on startup like I do- it crashses. TL;DR at bottom. Onward! I just want to say first and foremost- I tried REALLY hard to like this game. The graphics are right in the Diablo...

DO NOT PLAY IT I have played DE for YEARS, since at least 2002. The company hosting this version of DE is very shady. I've read forum posts that mention the GM's mass-deleting characters and just saying "oops", then the horrible lack of customer service and it's obvious they use a language translator.
