By far my favorite vertical scrolling shmup and my favorite in the Raiden series. My playtime at the time of this review is low, but I used to play it a LOT on the Xbox One and later the Director's Cut version on PS4. While the "story mode" isn't that great of an addition, there's still a solid shmup to be enjoyed here. The difficulty level is quite punishing (as is Raiden tradition), so you better grab your best controller for this one.

Bought through Humble... So I can't refund. I want to love this game, but design choices make it hard. Yellow bullets blend with medals. In fact, the brightness of everything, plus the bloom, makes it kind of hard to read the situation well. The game is hardcoded by frame rate, so I had to drop my monitor refresh rate from 144 to 60, because the game has no limiting option. It also doesn't respect AMD Frame Rate...
