Goated game. I saw a lot of people complaining about frequent crashes however my experience on linux was great with 0 crashes. So if you are playing on linux go for it and if you are on windows maybe emulate it instead idk the game itself is great

I usually get put off by people praising older games since I feel like its purely based off nostalgia, but this game was actually quite good. I'll put a disclaimer and say the game's age def shows in some parts of the actual map design. It can feel extremely confusing where to go next because the actual map art doesn't make certain pathways immediately obvious. I had to use a guide early on to really navigate...

A poor port of a legendary RPG that’s still not great even with a plethora of patches. I got every ending/achievement because I am a stubborn Chrono Trigger diehard, but I cannot in good faith recommend this version of the game. Go for the SNES original or DS version instead. Game is extremely unstable. You have to jump through hoops just to try and get it to function somewhat normally. Disable steam and GPU overlays, make sure you have Microsoft Visual c++ 2005 - 2015 32bit installed as well. These things seemed to have helped a lot of people, I had to go one step further and set the game to Windows 8 compatibility mode to get it somewhat stable.

What can I say about Chrono Trigger? This game has been on the top of my 'must play' for decades. I owned the cartridge when I was younger, playing until 2AM on school nights in the blissful quiet, the music washing over me. This RPG does not overstay its welcome: it feels so much longer than it is, and it's packed full of secrets, call-backs, tidbits and has replay-ability in trying to find all 13 endings....

How does a game that was released on SNES 31 years ago crash on a PC? 10 hours in, first crash, but damn how fun it is to be one hit away from killing a boss only for the game to say "♥♥♥♥ you - do it again"

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE this game. The way it holds up should be hecking STUDIED because it's still an excellent game even 30+ years later.
