I still prefer Sierra's 1994 game Lode Runner: The Legend Returns. It had bombs and other tools, and teleporters. It made the levels more interesting and puzzle more elaborate than simply figuring out which blocks to zap in what order. Also had different worlds with different aesthetics. I would recommend this game if you want a voxel-based iteration of basic Lode Runner. It will likely give you short spurts of fun....

Frame rate is locked to half of the monitor refresh rate, and game speed is tied to frame rate, which means at my monitor's native 144hz it runs at 72fps and is unplayably fast. When I drop the refresh rate to 60, it runs at 30fps and has terrible screen tearing because there' no v-sync option, and really no video options at all except for resolution. Incredibly disappointing.

What Lode Runner Legacy isn't: something new and innovative that focuses on adding new elements to that distant classic from the '80s. What Lode Runner Legacy is: the original game at its best, with added levels, a retro-friendly voxel art style that fits like a glove, and a level editor that raises the replay value sky high.

I played the original back in the day so finding this was a joy. Unfortunately, it's NOT the game I remember hardly at all. It's much faster. Not just the pace of the game but the controls. It's actually difficult to make Loderunner do what I want him to do, he constantly overshoots. The game also runs at relatively low resolution and has no option or support for 4k. Lode Runner should be an easy buy, unfortunately I can't get the game to run beyond 15 FPS and there are virtually no options to change or customize the graphics. Looks like i'll dust off my NES if I want to get my fix.
