METAL SLUG XX

Sort of a boring rehash of some mediocre parts of the franchise. Mecha boss fight looked cool, but other than that, it's whatever.

Metal Slug XX was the one I played a lot on the PSP just because Leona was in it. The only difference with this and the PSP version iirc is that there's midgame saves on the PSP version but not on this one.

This game combines the zaniness and creativity that Metal Slug is known for with the "good" level design decisions of Metal Slug 5. Whereas previous Metal Slug games were difficult but could be reasonably maneuvered around, this game's difficulty is unfair and unfun even on Normal. Most janky feeling in the franchise so far, partly being a very clear console port. Which is disappointing, as if it felt less janky, it would probably be one of my preferred games in the franchise so far. Rating: 14/41

Metal Slug XX feels like a bigger and more polished version of the older Metal Slug games, with more playable characters, unique abilities, and even more chaotic action packed into every mission. The gameplay still keeps that fast arcade-style run-and-gun formula, but the added character variety makes replaying stages a lot more fun. I liked it, like almost all games, it's that simple. Although I was surprised they added 7 missions, but oh well, I haven't tried the other games that aren't on Steam, but overall I loved the series, I love it, and I will continue to love it.
