The Alliance Alive HD Remastered

Charming little 3DS JRPG. Solid art, decent gameplay, though marred by random difficulty spikes. Need a controller to play, though I really liked it both on Desktop and Steam Deck. If I recall right I had to go into Nvidia Control Panel to lock FPS as otherwise it was attempting to run at as high a framerate as possible.

Honestly, I don't understand the hype for this game. The combat is just...not fun. You can auto-battle your way through most every random encounter. But then some bosses are insanely hard. The scale in difficulty, from sheer laughably easy to "what in the hell were the developers thinking", is a big blotch. On top of that, none of the character's stats are explained very well. I want to like this game, but it's just so boring. Maybe the difficulty picks up later but I just mindlessly mash A on anything that's not a boss or special encounter and since you more or less full heal after each fight that works well enough. The story and characters kinda pique my interest, but because the gameplay is so boring I can't work up the interest to continue.
