Dark Souls II is an absolutely unique game. Every part of it feels really fresh and different. The progression, leveling system, art design, level design, bosses, graphics, and physics all feel like something new. If you think that combat system is broken, you simply havent mastered it. 63 Hours. Almost 30 wasted not using guides. This game requires you to use a guide which is absolute BS as you'll get stuck often. But if you keep your phone by your side to search things up, you'll have a decent time. It's not as good as Dark Souls 1 or 3 and I am reviewing the original version, not Scholar of the First Sin which is different.

Dark Souls II was an enjoyabel experience. Even though I was mildly annoyed at my green self and the sometimes weird controls, it is still one of my favourite games of all time. I would recomend it to everyone that I know.

While this was my first time playing DS2 on Steam, I have hundreds of hours on console. I love DS2, especially Vanilla. Don't believe people that say this game sucks, it's literally perfect AND has Majula. Try it.

I personally prefer this version over Scholar of the First Sin, most likely because of nostalgia (as this was the first Souls game I played). This version suffers from some jank SotFS doesn't because it is a 32-bit executable, and the world itself feels fairly barren due to the rushed nature of development. my ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ has never puckered more then getting surrounded by enemies and barely escaping. I have been through near-death experiences. it is a good game, love it.

though it's shunned throughout the series, i TRULY believe that it's worth playing, it introduces mechanics that, while some are bad, most are great, and get polished and reused through the series.
