Not Tonight 2

Sad younger brother to the first Not Tonight. I give it credit for trying something new, but the minigames really take away from what I enjoy about the first game (boring bureaucracy, yippee!!). I also felt like the political commentary was a lot more grating than the first game, but that might just be the current age of getting bombarded constantly with America-centric news.

The first installment had a dystopian take on Brexit. This one has a dystopian take on the whole MAGA thing from a very European perspective, I might add. However the stakes seem different. Both are funny, but the first Not Tonight had a bleaker feel, so every time the satire released tension it felt more earned. This one feels more like a contant dopamine injection, albeit the satire more prescient in some cases....

I enjoyed Not Tonight (and of course the inspiration Papers Please) but Not Tonight 2 is weak. Not as funny, barely any attachment to the many characters that get thrown into your face, weak story with a boring plot twist. Mechanically it's okay, I enjoyed the new mini-games. But there's barely any feeling of progression compared to the first game.
