Makai Kingdom is the story of Overlord Zetta, who accidentally destroys his own Netherworld. In order to save himself, he seals his soul inside a book. Reduced to nothing more than a tome, Zetta is forced to enlist the help of his fellow Overlords to get his netherworld (and his body) back.

Fixes • Fixed crashes when trying to reincarnate or sort certain units in specific situations. • Fixed error where cursor in game settings menu can go outside bounds. • Fixed graphical error where roses were clipping through blood pool. • Adjusted font size in specific menu during character creation. Makai Kingdom is Nippon Ichi Software at it's absolute best. NIS fired on all cylinders when making this game. Just when you think you've found the ultimate cheesy move to hyper grind your units, Makai Kingdom looks up from it's newspaper, and says, "Good job sport, took you long enough to figure that out." I own three copies of Makai Kingdom & have spent enough time all together to make it worth it. I bought this version in the time where I wasn't on my Switch often due to controller issues & had my steam deck. Needless to say as much as I recommend this game, it doesn't start unless there's internet. A sad reality of this version that should have not happen.

Base game definitely worth it, extreme post post game (beaten all the super bosses) - probably better to move on. I picked up from old save file with 50 hours of playtime, most of which was main story + Peta mode and some grind to beat all post game bosses. On that file somehow (I don't remember) I got a hundred or more good r40 items, plus a lot of high level food and plants for reincarnation. Now I spent 40+ hours...

Fun little game with interesting characters that I wish had gotten more development. The gameplay can be quite janky at times. Units will sometimes slip and fall off the map or simply fail to execute your commands due to bad pathfinding, enemy AI is incredibly basic and easy to cheese, and there's a ton of cumbersome menuing in this game both in and out of battle, which was one of my biggest complaints.
