Ever play D&D and get railroaded by your DM hardcore? Its like that, despite whatever you do, what the DM wants to happen happens regardless. And while I understand games are limited in what they can do, this felt like an exercise in futility, and while I'm sure some folks will enjoy that aspect, I do not. So not for me, having been a fan of fighting against the odds stories, this one was remarkably... unsatisfying...

-the writing is amazing

-great original plot

the bad:
-*creative sure, but i dont think it works for this book
-too short, why are we only spending milliseconds in some of the most important moments of our lives??? its an Interactive Fiction... LET ME INTERACT WITH IT
-not much choice for the mc's personality
-stat management is...

It's a nah for me. This should have either been a complete story, or a longer first book. Where the story ends in terms of pacing feels like a middle - no matter what choices you make, you arrive at the same point. The first book in the series should(!) have a resolution, even in the non-interactive genre. And if you compel a reader to make all of the many choices - then you should really repay them with something....
