2026-03-23Inochi2D 0.9 has been in intensive development for a little over a year now, and things are starting to come together. Inochi2D 0.9 is a massive overhaul to the internals of Inochi2D, replacing the underlying memory managment, rendering subsystem, file format, node structure and more. New features are also available in the currently available nightly builds of the SDK, such as Vertex Welding, Solo Nodes, Mesh Effects with more to come! You can already today fetch the SDK in our nightly github releases to begin integrating it into your game engine(s), and official bindings to Ren'py and Godot are also in the works. https://github.com/Inochi2D/inochi2d/releases/tag/nightly What's in store...

With these extensive under the hood changes, some major changes are also coming to Inochi Creator, with these changes the minimum system requirements will change as well. The rendering subsystem in Creator and Session are being upgraded to use Vulkan 1.3 on Windows and Linux, and Metal 3 on macOS. Due to these changes, some older hardware will be unable to run Inochi Creator after the 0.9 update, a smaller update may be released later with a fallback OpenGL backend, if demand for it is high enough. macOS Issues Crashes when loading Inochi Creator on macOS 15.4 and newer are known about, currently you may circumvent the issue by running the Windows version of Inochi Creator in Crossover, or downgrading to macOS 15.3 and older. This issue will be fixed with the Inochi Creator 0.9 release, as it is compiled with a newer D compiler version that circumvents the crash from Apple's system changes. And as a little treat... A new splash screen illustration has been created for Inochi Creator 0.9, Illustrated by the talented kgr! That's it for now, thank you for the continued support for the project!
