In the update delivered on November 20, 2025 (“Release Note for 2025/11/20 :: Baten Kaitos I & II HD Remaster Events & Announcements”), we confirmed an issue related to save data. Please note that a rollback was performed on November 21, and the game has been reverted to the previous version. If you experienced this issue, the following actions may help resolve it: • If you have backup data stored in Steam Cloud, please restore your save data from there. • If you have backup data saved in another folder on your PC, please restore your save data from that location as well. The update being released this time is a re-release of the “November 20 Update.” The save data issue mentioned above has already been fixed. We sincerely apologize for the significant inconvenience this has caused our users.

Their latest small updated (20/11/25), allegedly to protect users again a Unity vulnerability, also wiped all player's savegames. Some people lost 50 hours, some people less and some more - I've personally lost 26 hours of play, and I don't have what it takes to start it all over and patiently grind through those 26 hours. They effectively ruined the game for me and killed that only run I would had in my lifetime,...

Baten Kaitos 1 is still my favorite JRPG of all time. Finished it 5 times so far (GameCube + Switch) but still had to get it on PC when I realized there is a Steam version as well. Love the music, the story/characters, and the different appearances of the islands. Might be repetitive near the end, but I just love this game. The Great Mizuti approves!

Owned and completed both of these games on Gamecube (approx 10~12 times for BK1, 2 times for BK2), now revisiting this remaster. Succinct review from someone who has spent maybe about 500~ lifetime hours with these games: It's a deck builder and "card based" battle system but, speaking as someone who normally doesn't enjoy card-based systems, it's straightforward and not a headache to pick up. Battles are on a timer...
