Usurper

An attempt at making a chess roguelike. Feels pretty awkward to play with two-step turns: you deploy a piece (optionally) and then you make a move. With how this game UI is, the resulting flow is poor, with a lot of unnecessary button presses. Plus, most upgrades aren't enjoyable because you just get custom pieces with non-standard moves, so now you have to think harder to make use of them. For science I'll tinker...

This game is a typical deck builder slash roguelike. The deck builder is selecting cards that represent chess pieces to place and roguelike to unlock new pieces with untypical chess moves. You can only place pieces next to your king, which forces you to move your king often to get new pieces close to the enemy king. I think this concept sounds cool on paper. Unfortunately, this game has a 4x animation speed ......

the game starts out easy but when you unlock things new enemys and bosses show up and it gets alot more challengeing the music is good too
