I adore higurashi to bits, but these side stories are not why I love it. The most engaging one that's closest to the tone of the actual novels is the bus stop story, which is also kinda cool for historical reasons. The others however are just mediocre and/or rely on the silly goofy fanservice-y stuff you sometimes see in the club activities...but turned up to 11 where genuinely it started to get unbearable to read. I think the hate for it is a little overblown. Although Hou+ may not be worth it at full price, if you're a higurashi fan, grab it when it's on discount! The concepts explored here are quite interesting, especially in the later half of the outbreak story. The bus stop part was also nice, as we explore the origin of higurashi, which is neat to see as a fan. In conclusion, pick this up if you're a big fan of higurashi...

Out of all those, Outbreak was the better one as a story, but at some point someone got lazy while writing it. Not only did it start developing a bunch of plot holes, but the entire ending was skipped and shown as a series of static images jumping around. Bus Stop could have been good as a theatre play, but it doesn’t work as well in the format you’re getting it in. The rest is whatever.
