Patch #4: News, updates, bug fixes and improvements to the game
2026-09-04Greetings, all. It has been a while since the last update, and quite a few things have happened behind the scenes. Firstly, Yahaha and I have decided to part ways. This means that moving forward, I will be handling all aspects of future game updates. This means that there are fewer resources and less time to do everything but I'll do my best.

Secondly, the Spanish localization is in the works. I would like to thank everyone for their patience. I have been assured that the localization is coming along, but the person who is making this translation is taking their time to ensure it is of the highest quality possible. Fun fact: the localization is actually being done by a linguistics student for their graduation thesis. That is bonkers to me, but I appreciate any help I can get, and this makes me confident that the translations will be of high quality. Given that the localization is being done pro bono and this person has graciously offered to do this, I did not deem it appropriate to rush them or insist on a specific deadline. With that in mind, please bear with us. As soon as it is available, I will make an update and let everyone know. Third, I was looking into the possibility of porting the game to Apple Silicon Macs. Of course, when I tried to port it, the latest OS update combined with the Unity version caused the game to crash upon startup. I have managed to make the build run again; however, a third party tool used for the CRT effect seems to be broken. Therefore, the port will take a bit more time, as now I have to manually remove the CRT filter and make sure the game is actually playable. With these announcements out of the way, here is an update with the new content that is in the game. There is less content this month, but I am working on some new stuff that will hopefully be available around Halloween: • Removed the Yahaha logo from the splashscreen. • The lighter can now burn cobwebs as well as the rope without the need for candles, though you can still use candles if you want. • Added an ink monster (Mr. Blob) retreat animation after the objective is completed. • Added a new lore note for Mary Lou for the bathtub scene. • Added buzzing flies for context when there are dead bodies you can interact with. • Fixed the fake "save" UI interaction. • Corrected hotspot text being cut off when the cursor is at the edge of the screen. This was also an issue caused by the CRT post processing. • Added descriptions for the keys that tell the player which key opens which door. • Corrected hotspot text interactions in the hidden room and tea room. • Added text prompts for the containers. • Added speaker tags for the ending cinematic to avoid confusing people, namely Charlie, Laura, and Wesley. I will continue to add incremental improvements and bug fixes to the game, as well as new content. I am aware that the computer sequence has a weird selection issue where it selects an item. It is a known issue I am working on. It has to do with the controller input, and once this is fixed, the controller input method will exit out of beta. I have had attempts before to fix it. I know how to fix it; I just need some time to do so. Also, as always, if you have criticisms, bugs, or ideas on how to improve the game, feel free to join our Discord and let me know. Thanks for listening to the ramblings of a solo developer, and I will see you soon. P.S. I am currently working on a 45 to 60 minute demo for the sequel. Once I am happy with the level of quality, I will be sure to let you guys know. Have a great weekend! Sincerely, Hagiu Alexandru, Scared Stupid Inc.
