It's kind of like an old NES game, but not really. It has a few different weapon pickups and over time you will find some of the weapons work better than others for certain bosses and certain situations. Sometimes you will accidentally pick up a weapon that you wish you didn't have, but that is just part of the game. Sometimes you will find it is damn near impossible until you get a chance to pick up another weapon....
