Speaking as a huge fan of the original game, I found this to be a mixed bag. It's basically like if you took a few crucial elements of the original and made an above-average Celeste or Super Meat Boy-esque challenging platformer out of them, discarding huge chunks of what made the original game special in the process. While it's true that the game doesn't necessarily fully capture the charm of the original, and I wish they would have tried a bit more to give this sequel its own identity with the music and all (instead of doing it with collectibles that I personally ignored), it really nicely and faithfully recreates all the physics-based fun that you'd want out of it. About as challenging as the og Gimmick, and quite addictive! Spent 20 minutes trying to reach some random spot just to see if there was anything up there, and there wasn't, but the reward of knowing you can control Mr. Gimmick so confidently stands as one of the best reasons to play these games.
