Music update incoming, playtesters wanted!
2026-09-18Hi everyone! It’s been a little while since I last shared any news about Blêktre 2081, so with a small update coming soon, I thought I’d take the opportunity to give you a quick update. In fact, lately I’ve also been working on another game, which I’ll be telling you more about soon! But that doesn’t mean Blêktre has been abandoned, far from it. Since it’s a small indie MMO, when I’m not pushing many updates or communicating much, there are naturally fewer players around, which can, yes, make it feel a little deserted. But actually, Blêktre 2081 was designed from the start to work like this: thanks to asynchronous multiplayer, you can perfectly well play on your own and enjoy the game even when nobody else is online at the same time, whether you want to make it to the end of the story or take the opportunity to get your hands on the best businesses in town.

Either way, you’ll leave a trace of your presence for the players who come after you, who’ll keep getting high on the amazing drug you invented during your playthrough. The game will soon have been running non-stop for two years, and honestly, I think the formula works. It’s not perfect, there are always things I’d like to improve, but the game works from beginning to end, and it has been profitable enough for the servers to keep running for a very long time. A dub compilation is coming to Blêktre The next update is a musical addition coming soon. I’m a musician myself, quite a few of my friends from the scene are too, and I think Blêktre’s futuristic, messed-up universe works particularly well with the musical genre known as dub: music that is both roots and technological, and therefore retrofuturistic. So we started composing several tracks in that spirit, and it eventually turned into a compilation that will also expand the music in the game. It will be released on Friday, September 25 on the Scorpion Metal label! There will also be a few other small tweaks and improvements in the game, and I still have a list of things I’d like to balance, fix, or add later on. I’m still looking for playtesters! What I’m mainly missing right now is fresh feedback from players, especially from people discovering Blêktre 2081 for the very first time. So I’m looking for a few people who have never played it before and would be motivated to really dive into it. I can provide free Steam keys to people willing to do a fairly thorough playthrough. You don’t necessarily have to turn over every old syringe in the game, but go far enough to discover the different systems and tell me honestly: • what works; • what gives you trouble; • what feels unbalanced; • what you feel is missing; • or the moments when you simply don’t really know what to do anymore, which can happen in this kind of sandbox environment ! I can also be available on Discord while you play to answer questions or help you get unstuck if needed. If you’re interested, come talk to me on Discord! https://discord.com/invite/U7AjZF65KJ And of course, if you’ve already played Blêktre 2081 and have feedback, now is always a good time :-D Either way, I’ll be back very soon with more about this upcoming update. Until then, enjoy real life (which, despite everything, remains the gold standard for getting messed up) Charles
