An Update On Things :)
2026-09-25Hey guys! It's been awhile! I wanted to post here to give everyone an update on my plans for Sculplings for the next few months. I have been so grateful to see so many people enjoy the game so much. I still believe there's a lot of potential in the game that I'd love to add in the future. Sculplings took 3 years for me and a couple of my friends to develop and I think by the end of development in March I got very burnt out. I'm proud of the game we created, but there was a lot more I wanted to add still to make the game as great as it could be. But I found myself barely able to focus on working on the game for more than, like, 30 minutes before I got disinterested, scrolling instagram, reddit, just generally not doing focused, good work on the game. This was a far cry from the motivated, passionate way I like to work on my creative projects with.

'Owlbear' design by KoboldsCrossing made by me. Really like how it came out So I decided to take a break from making games. I work as a hiking guide in Yellowstone National Park full time during the summer, so my time to work on the game was already limited enough, but I found even the limited time I would spend on it wasn't doing good work. Now that job is wrapping up so I will have more time to focus on creative work, but I'm still feeling pretty burnt out of game dev. I thought a lot about the parts that still excite me, and I realized I still LOVE creating the sculptures. So I decided to spend the winter focusing on my art. Not necessarily for any games, just for their own sake. Maybe selling dioramas or something at craft shows. I'm not sure if they'll actually sell, but I've been flooded with a lot more creative energy deciding to work on art for now instead of games. That decision has made me feel like myself again for the first time in awhile tbh. A recent diorama I made that I'm really proud of. ALL THAT SAID! The idea of some light work on the game still sounds nice. I'd love to add small things like new creatures, some bug fixes and maybe small features to the game in the next few months. There's major things like Legendaries I'd still LOVE to add to the game, but frankly I just don't have the energy to do that right now. But I have a few more Sculpling designs and ideas that I think would be fun to add, so stay tuned for that :) Potential "Birb" Sculpling I'd love to add to the game. I also am like 90% done with controller support, I'm just doing the final testing now. So that's still coming. Due to the circumstances I just mentioned it's been taking way longer than I anticipated. Also with that controller support update I have fixed a lot of the bugs that have been reported over the last few months. I still read the reports you guys send!
