TL;DR: True Lover's Knot is a short slice-of-life about being treated to a cruise by your best pal and finding love (or not) along the way. The premise and writing were okay, but the repeated non skippable match 3/4/5 game jars you out of the story. I actually like to play VN's from time to time, but wow this is one of the worst I have encountered in a long while. You play as Emma, a female Mac Gyver who can and needs to fix up every damn thing with her IT skills, namingly server, mobile phones, tablets,doors, or even ship engines. This game has a lot of selling points that would ordinarily be a hit with me - Romantic story, anime-inspired characters, photo-realism, exotic/luxurious setting, etc etc. That's why I bought the game, after all. But while a lot of my personal box checks are all on deck, the execution has completely missed the boat. This game is nice example of how to make games... NOT. 1. Who needs testers? Just release VN without checking if choices work as they should. Santi has original strategy to take girl to bed. He is talking about ham that is very special, because it comes from pigs that only eat acorns. After that she can choose to either go to bed with him or listen about that ham again... Into infinity. Okay, nobody plays dating sims for a realisitic deep connection or anything like that, but True Lover's Knot had the most basic, shallow excuse for a story I've yet to encounter. The puzzle element was no challenge at all. The gameplay itself was broken in parts. Worst of all, it only gave the most vague illusion of player choice. Sure, it's mostly visual novel, but it isn't even an interesting visual novel.
