We updated the build to include the original version of the game and now the brand new Spirit Exclusive version - in collaboration with Spirit Halloween! The story has changed and the bosses are now from the Spirit world, along with one cameo appearance from a special guest ;) The build now features the new Onlaught Edition of the original version which includes three Onslaught levels that will test your 8-bit combat skills!

You could think of this as a quote on quote "follow up" to my Haunted Halloween 85 review, with this obviously being the sequel For those that either did not know this from my previous review (or anyone else review for that matter) to give you the run down, think River City Ransom art style, Mega Man precision platforming, and just a touch of double dragon as some sections play like beat em ups when you encounter...

This game plays really smoothly while feeling true to the NES experience. Things seem daunting and hard, then once you get the feel for it, it can all be beaten in one go taking around an hour, or if you prefer continuing with passwords, it has that too. Lots of secrets to find along the way and power ups so things don't get stale.

The Haunted Halloween games are really enjoyable action platformers that have combat more akin to a beat'em up. Being an authentic NES release means it's constrained to the limits of that system but they mapped your different attacks in a way that just feels right. Progressing through the game and earning new moves to add to your arsenal pushed me along, looking forward to that next flashy new maneuver. The visuals...
