Mundaun is a good example of folk horror. The game opens with you on a bus heading back to your childhood home deep in the mountains after getting word of your grandfathers death. Things take a turn REAL QUICK. Not going to get in story spoilers, but the stakes are established real quick and you're given sufficient "Hey this is a problem I need to SOLVE" motivation. The artstyle is what drew me in and is what kept the visuals striking throughout the whole game with how it presents different environments, characters and animations, and ultimately what sets this game apart. It's a horror game that's not that scary if you've played a horror game before. Don't listen to the other reviews bashing this game for the combat because this game isn't an action game and the combat isn't even that clunky. This game is perfect. Finished it in one sitting and could not have been happier with it. Amazing telling of folklore and morals and war and family. I wish I could play through it again for the first time.
