A beautiful looking game that unfortunately had some questionable design choices that would have made the difference between ok and good. It's an ok game. Enjoyable.

What starts off feeling interesting quickly collapses into frustration. The difficulty feels poorly designed rather than challenging, with combat and progression that become punishing for no meaningful reason. Any early enjoyment fades fast, leaving an experience that feels messy and unrewarding. Most of the negative reviews leveled against this game are ludicrous. I think too many people bought into the IGN crap review, got it stuck in their heads, and never mind that IGN is notorious for propping up some really awful AAA games for "reasons." Once you get past the admittedly punishing early game and get a feel for how to survive, the gameplay is quite satisfying and, once you venture out and the world opens...
